Product and Department Training
Points covered in the previous session should be reviewed to ensure that the user has grasped the topics covered clearly, and knows how to make use of what was taught. This should involve actual demonstration by the user. The topics covered in this session depend upon a working knowledge of what was covered in the previous session.

Questions noted by the trainee should be reviewed, and if relevant to what has been covered should be addressed. If the user asks questions which require knowledge of other topics that have not yet been covered, they should be shown the training schedule so that the can see when their question is scheduled to be covered.

Departments should be explained, and the technique for editing and adding departments should be demonstrated and practiced.

The PLU masterfile editing screen should be explained showing the key fields which are required. Non-required fields should be mentioned so that they know where to look should these fields be needed in future.

One new department should be set up, and products keyed into the PLU masterfile for that department. At least 6 new products should be added by the user giving them time to become familiar with entering new PLU's.

In POS, one display screen should have been set up prior, without any PLU buttons operational. The technique for setting up "One Touch" PLU's on that screen should be demonstrated, and the user should set up at least 6 buttons on that screen.

This session should take 30-60 minutes, and the user should be practice the steps in processing a sale at least 6 times.

When this session finishes, a review of the topics covered should be made, and the "homework" assignment for the user is to enter the remaining PLU's in that department and set up the other buttons on the One new screen.

Finally they should be asked to prepare a list of questions, and a time scheduled for the follow up training session, which should take place no more than 48 hours later.
