Now that you have examined the sample Configurations and know the general types of configuration that are available, it is time to start working on your own configuration.

While it is possible to create a new Blank Configuration and set up everything from scratch, few actually do this. Instead it is better to make a copy of the sample which most closely matches the structure that you will use and then modify that structure. The original configuration will at least give you examples of many things that you want to do, and it is usually easier to modify the old data than enter new data from scratch.

. During this part of your setup, you may not have all the devices that you will need to use when the system goes live. Ticket Printers, Scanners, Pole Displays, Touch Screens and even the actual computers may not yet be available. This is not a problem, since you can set up the configuration and the data files on another machine and then install and configure the hardware later when it is available.

During this phase of configuration, it is quite possible that you will run both Control and POS on the same machine, even if you later intend to have a separate back office machine. This is no problem, however you must have Control using a different data directory to POS.

We suggest that you have store the files for Control in a directory such as :-
C:\SELLmatix Data\Control

and the files for POS in a directory such as :-
C:\SELLmatix Data\POS

however the choice is yours.

You should make sure that you do not try and change directories while both POS and Control are running at the same time. Control continually tries to connect to POS, and if both programs are open while you change directories, this can have undesired side effects.

There are two ways to copy or install a new configuration.

  1. Simply copy the files and then in both POS and Control go to the File->Select or Create Config->Open Existing Company. Then you navigate so that you are inside the directory which contains the data files.
  2. Go to the File->Backup Data and Graphics Menu and make a backup of the existing configuration. Then go to the File->Restore Data menu option, elect the backup you have made and choose a new location to restore the backup.
In either case, you should verify that the new directory is displayed in the title bar of POS and Control.

If you haven't already done so, why not activate SELLmatix now and start enjoying the benefits of the system now. With SELLmatix, you don't have to pay for everything up front. You can implement the system in stages adding parts as you go from the savings you make. As little as $30 gets you started. No risk. No long term commitment. Activate Now!
